New Poem- The Quiet Honor

19 11 2008

The Quiet Honor
Dedicated to His Royal Majesty,
Darius Aurelius Serpentius
For his kindness in the escort of Lady Collwen
On a dark Pennsic XXXIV Night

Glorious honor the battlefields will yield
to low born and noble blood that gain great victories
through the clash of arms amongst trees and fields.
These write the histories of Mars’ mysteries.

Contests on tournament fields offers glory bright
where fighters bold meet in war-like games.
Armed knights match skill for skill in martial fights
and exhibit talent with lance and quintain.

Such great tributes are brash and loud at times,
yet fearsome deeds this style of praise does well
for the sound of sword and shield fill out poet’s rhymes
and makes our foes pray for Heaven over Hell

But quiet honor is the best I find;
proof most perfect when Princes are kind.
